SOLIDARITY WITH THE PORTUGUESE PEOPLE ON STRIKE AGAINST THE AUSTERITY MEASURES!
The measures proposed by the Troïka (EU, ECB, IMF) in Greece, in Ireland and in Portugal have plunged these countries into chaos and poverty. Across Europe we must sink or swim together. From Portugal to Greece democracy has lost its meaning; the civil services and governments of these countries are at the service of the bankers.
Two days ago Hungary made a surprising U-turn and said it would seek a credit line, but no new loans, from the IMF. The Hungarian currency (Forint) has weakened considerably over the past few weeks and two credit rating agencies have placed Hungary's bonds on review for a possible downgrade to junk status due to its weak growth outlook and unpredictable policies. For this reason the government is going to negotiate a Precautionary Credit Line with the IMF. Prime Minister Viktor Orban will sign the letter to be sent to the IMF. The credit facility is expected to be about EUR 4 billion.

Brief evaluation of ENA Freiburg - Mathias Benyik, ATTAC Hungary
2011. augusztus 16. kedd, 06:08
Dear friends,
Herebelow I share with you my first impressions about the ENA held in Freiburg. As for organisational point of you it was a great success: well prepared, well organised, with a lot of workshops, very good cultural programs, abundant food, decent accomodation, etc. But, as for democracy inside the ATTAC movement and the link with other social actors, as well as political discussions, and deep analysis of the roots of the problem (capitalism) I have many unanswered questions, e.g.:
Standing accused of sexual offenses, Dominique Strauss-Kahn (DSK) resigned a few weeks ago as the IMF's Managing Director. In this way, sex has become the determining factor of the world's policy-making, adding uncertainty to the outcome of the IMF's management re-organisation, already started at the time of DSK.
Many people do not understand the levels of apathy shown by Hungarian society towards the media law and the restrictions on freedom of speech. When finally a mass demonstration was recently held, in a

2010. december 02. csütörtök, 18:27
The Social Justice Movement - ATTAC Hungary joins the famous French footballer Eric Cantona’s call for a bank protest "KILL THE BANKS" and encourages the Hungarian population to participate in the International Action Day on 7th December 2010 - by taking their money out of their banks, forcing the financial institutions into bankruptcy and thereby digging the grave of the current economic system.
ATTAC Hungary has taken actions against the selfishness of capital and demanded capital taxation since its establishment (February 2002). We've already released a protest statement
